Legality and compliance

How is it legal?

At GCF International, everything we cultivate, produce and distribute is legal under Jamaican law and audited against international standards of compliance. We operate with full visibility and integrity, because what is correct for medicinal products matters more than what is fast.

Framework

Governing bodies and licences.

We are licensed in Jamaica by the Cannabis Licensing Authority to cultivate, process, distribute and conduct the lawful import and export of therapeutic cannabis across the Caribbean and to international markets where treaty and permit conditions allow.

Cannabis Licensing Authority

The CLA is the Jamaican regulatory body responsible for issuing licences for the cultivation, processing, transport, retail and research of cannabis products. Our licences are current, published and available for partner review.

  • Cultivator's licence, tiered
  • Processing licence
  • Retail and distribution licence
  • Import and export permit authorisations, per shipment

Cultivation and wellness use in Jamaica

Jamaica operates a clear legal framework for regulated medicinal cannabis. Products are made available through controlled prescriber routes, wellness services offered by licensed operators, research partnerships and clinically supervised product development.

Import and export laws across the Caribbean

Each country in the Caribbean has its own regulatory framework for medicinal cannabis. GCF supports regional compliance by working with regional health ministries, customs authorities, regulatory agencies for therapeutic imports and institutional research partners.

We never ship product without legal export or import permits. Where a CLA licence is required, it is in place. If a country does not yet permit the legal import of medicinal cannabis into their territory, we withhold the necessary supply until we have your authorisation.

How we ensure legal compliance.

1

CLA licensing

All cultivation and processing sites are inspected and audited by the CLA. Our licences are current, published and available for partner review.

2

Batch specific export documentation

Each exported order is accompanied by an export permit from the CLA, an import permit from the destination authority, a certificate of analysis, product tracking identifiers and full customs documentation.

3

Partner verification

We only distribute to licensed clinics and pharmacies, government approved distributors, health professionals with prescribing authority and certified research organisations.

4

Ongoing regulatory consultation

We maintain active dialogue with regional stakeholders and legal advisers to keep ahead of policy changes, market opening opportunities and medicinal cannabis programmes.

For patients and providers

Is this medicine legal to prescribe or dispense?

In Jamaica, yes. Patients with a valid prescription from a licensed clinician can legally access medical cannabis under the Dangerous Drugs (Cannabis Licensing) Interim Regulations, 2016. In other Caribbean nations laws vary. We assist local partners in understanding and navigating the applicable route.

Import approval
Pharmacy regulation
Controlled substance protocols
Pilot trial opportunities

Each product is created to serve one purpose, to improve health outcomes across the Caribbean with safe, regulated access to natural, effective plant based medicine.

Legal disclaimer

GCF International does not promote the unauthorised use of cannabis products in any country or jurisdiction where such use is prohibited by law. We only sell, export or advise within legal frameworks that explicitly allow for medicinal use, licensed professional access, regulated wellness distribution, and research and development.

Cannabis regulation by jurisdiction, product and country changes over time. We review our published guidance regularly and update it when policy changes, so please confirm current requirements with our team before shipment.
